  • Tau Films is looking for a Pipeline Supervisor to oversee the smooth running of their VFX or Feature Animation pipeline, and undertake any pipeline development tasks required. To collaborate with senior technology and production leadership to support and enhance our global pipeline. He/She will be responsible for designing technical solutions to the specific and general needs of those shows in collaboration with global supervisors, senior production staff and lead developers in R&D. The Pipeline Supervisor does this in conjunction with the leadership & management of the Technology Department.

    Experience & Essential Skills Expected

    • 3+ years of experience as a Senior or Lead Pipeline TD

    • Minimum 5 years experience in film industry, ideally with previous experience in post-production, VFX, and CG

    • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Graphics, Engineering, or equivalent

    • Proven experience at a supervisory level in the visual effects industry would be an advantage

    • Experience in developing tools for DCC packages such as Maya, Houdini and/or Nuke

    • Experience with source control systems and team development

    • Experience with renderers such as Arnold and/or Redshift

    • Production experience with Maya, Katana, Houdini and/or Nuke, familiarity with relevant APIs

    • Prior experience working with and developing on Shotgrid or other Production & Asset Management Systems

    • Prior development experience with Python and PyQt in a production environment

    • Comprehensive working knowledge of multiple 2D and 3D software packages

    • Experience managing software, pipeline, and/or technology teams

    • Ability to establish priorities, multi-task efficiently, and work with diverse personalities and all levels of creative and technical staff

    • Experience planning large projects and forecasting show needs would be a plus

    • Good understanding of Visual Effects or Animation pipelines would be a plus

    Key Responsibilities

    • Leads a team of Department TDs and Pipeline Developers responsible for deploying, configuring, and supporting the existing Pipeline

    • Helps drive the design, implementation, and evolution of a standardized Pipeline for TV and Film Visual Effects Production

    • Manage and contribute to their on-show development of tools and workflows, ensuring that all development efforts meet the needs of the show while also contributing to the overall pipeline

    • Be a supervising presence for junior members of the Pipeline team, including our Pipeline TDs, ATDs and Interns who will look to you to provide coaching, guidance and mentoring

    • Direct development resources to build software systems and tools to support production

    • Works with the other senior Supervisors and Technical Leads to ensure that the Pipeline meets the needs of the studio at large and diverges as little as possible while still meeting the needs of the individual projects

    • Works with Production and Technology Management to ensure adequate support coverage to meet the demands of all active projects

    • Acts as an escalation point for Supervisors and Production Management to resolve pipeline and work-flow issues

    • Actively participates in the recruiting and staffing of the team as and when needed - assesses and shortlist the prospective candidates and works closely with the hiring manager

    • Lead in creating user-friendly documentation and tutorials for new tools and workflows.

    • Confirm that pipeline projects match required standards of functionality, documentation and communication

    • Address the needs of a multi-location, global workflow and dialogue with staff in different locations and time zones

  • We are looking to expand our development team spread across Malaysia and Hyderabad studio. During the current period of Covid related lockdown, this will start as a remote position, but transition to onsite when the office reopens in respective countries.   • We are currently looking for a talented and experienced Senior Lighter with experience working in the Film & Entertainment industry to join our creative team. We need a versatile and innovative artist motivated to grow with the team. To be able to work with teams and talented digital artists across the globe sharing knowledge & delivering international levels of quality. Note - Covid 19 pandemic has made it necessary for Tau Films(all locations) to shift our operations entirely to remote work platforms for the time being.

    Experience & Essential Skills Expected

    • A minimum of 5 years of previous experience in Lighting and Rendering CG for advertising, feature film or animation production.

    • Experience using Maya with Arnold/Redshift.

    • Solid understanding of the VFX lighting production pipeline

    • Ability to troubleshoot and solve problems independently

    • Must be able to precomp shots

    • Hands on knowledge in lookdev and comp will be a plus

    • Knowledge of photography & color theory.

    • Knowledge in scripting and writing tools will be a huge plus

    • Working knowledge of unreal engine will be of advantage

    • Good communication skills (both written, verbal) to enable you to work well with international teams

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lighting and rendering photo-real and stylized CG for advertising and digital projects

    • Work closely with department supervisors to create various methodologies to achieve the technical and aesthetics milestones for projects.

    • Cross train and contribute to other departments during downtime

    • Working closely with other CG/VFX Artists, across multiple locations to deliver the highest quality work

    • Help delivering projects of varying visual style, photo -real or non-photo-realistic looks

    • Mentor the junior artists, new hires in the team with knowledge sharing sessions done periodically
